Google Now's occasional reminders keep you on top of chores

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 03:12 PM PDT

Google had recently added a feature to its back end that allows for the occasional reminder when using Google Now. Now, when you set up a reminder, you can set up recurring alerts, one-time alerts based on time or location, and the occasional reminder that occasionally pops up to nag you about tasks. This would be great for things like chores, which may not really have an expiration date or a set completion date, but just stuff that you need to keep on top of with a fair amount of frequency.

Wear Aware is a leash for your smartphone from your Android Wear

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 01:41 PM PDT

Wear Aware is a simple app for your Android Wear smartphone that serves as a leash for your smartphone. When you walk away from your phone, Wear Aware will vibrate and play an audible alarm on your wrist so that you know that you've left your phone behind. This is useful for those times when you've set your phone down on a table at a cafe or restaurant and forget to pick it up when you leave.

[New App] Commander Expands Google Now's Voice Control To Hardware Functions With A 'Note To Self' Work-Around

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 11:26 AM PDT

unnamed (8) You probably know that you can use the "OK Google" command in Google Now (and just recently, anywhere else in Android) to do some cool things like set an alarm or check a flight number. But up to now, it hasn't been able to do much with the actual hardware on your phone. There's no easy way to expand Google Now functionality with third-party apps, but at least one developer found a work-around: meet Commandr, the new in-between service for flipping hardware switches in Google Now.

[New App] Commander Expands Google Now's Voice Control To Hardware Functions With A 'Note To Self' Work-Around was written by the awesome team at Android Police.

LG G3 variants for all four major U.S. carriers shown off in leaked renders

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 10:09 AM PDT

The LG G3 is only a couple of weeks away from making its official debut in the U.S. As many mobile tech lovers know, though, even a couple of weeks can feel like an eternity when you're excited for a new piece of hardware. Luckily for us, the rumor mill is here to make the wait a bit easier.

The Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile versions of the LG G3 have leaked out in a set of renders ahead of their launches. The AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile G3s look fairly similar to the international variant, with AT&T and T-Mobile opting to include their branding on the unit's backside. Verizon took things a step further by slapping its logo on the G3's face as well.

There's nothing terribly surprising that's revealed in this latest LG G3 leak, as we've seen before that Verizon can get a bit logo-happy when it comes to its hardware. Still, it's nice to get a peek at what all four models will look like ahead of their U.S. launches, especially for those of us that plan to pick one up.

The LG G3 is slated to launch at T-Mobile on July 16 and Sprint on July 18. Rumors have suggested that Verizon will launch its version smack dab in the middle of those two dates on July 17. Are you thinking about buying the LG G3? To get prepared, or to help make up your mind, be sure to read our LG G3 review right here!

QR Codes and smartwatches, a match made in heaven

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 08:11 AM PDT

QR Codes are one of those things where you either love using them or they just don't seem to actually add any convenience to your life. The tech has been around for ages, and every time someone tries to breathe new life into this quick glance data delivery mechanism it seems to gain more and more of a following. The most recent attempt at using QR Codes in apps on phones or as a WiFi hand-off for Google Glass all seem to work well enough, but with smartwatches on the rise it's clear that these little data squares are perfect on the wrist.

Angry Birds Epic 1.0.10 APK

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 05:30 AM PDT

Rovio updates Angry Birds Epic android game to v1.0.10 with addressed minor issues. Update now - it's going to be Epic! For every RPG lover out there, this game is just the thing you need to spend hours of playing and having fun. Similar to Hearthstone in its mechanics, but has cuteness going for it as well. Crafting system is extensive for a mobile app and all battles are very satisfying. Easily as fun as Pokemon, still no Child of Light, though.

So much fun, very entertaining and a great way to kill some time. Your mission is to explore a fantasy Piggy Island with everything from tribal villages and frosty mountains to tropical beaches and mysterious caves. You have to join Red, Chuck, Bomb and the other heroes as they face King Pig, Wiz Pig, Prince Porky and many more villains!

There is a challenge and is definitely has a bit of a learning curve for someone not familiar with the turn based games, but the tutorials are put together well and the combat and abilities are very basic to understand. If you are a fan of turn based RPGs this must have. Its a great app to waste time. Fairly addictive. It isn't pay to win which is a plus, quite frankly, a worthy download. Angry Birds Epic is fantastic overall, once you start you can't put it down!

Angry Birds Previous version:

- Angry Birds Epic APK 1.0.9

- Angry Birds Epic APK 1.0.8

Requires Android: 2.3.3+

Download File: 25.7MB (Angry Birds Epic APK)
