Posted: 21 Feb 2015 10:37 AM PST

It takes some time, but you can completely control the location history Google collects from your devices.

Google Maps

We've already covered how to remove individual locations and history items from Google Maps on Android, but when you need to access and manage all of your location history, you need to hop onto the computer. As the old saying goes, "knowledge is power" — and we're going to give you all of the tools necessary to know what information Google knows about your location, and how to clean it up or stop further reporting.

[APK Teardown] Slides Will Finally Bring Chromecast Support, All Drive Companions To Offer Printing Restrictions And An Easter Egg

DocsSheetsSlides-Teardown

To be honest, I never really expected to have anything to say about a teardown of the Drive companion apps, but here we are. Google uses Docs, Sheets, and Slides to give Android a mostly seamless editing experience for each of Drive's primary document types. They've gone through a steady set of improvements since launching in April and June of last year, either keeping pace or progressively catching up with the features offered by their web counterparts.

Samsung has released another teaser video for the Galaxy S6

Posted: 21 Feb 2015 07:21 AM PST

In case you weren't already hyped, Samsung has released a new teaser video for the upcoming Galaxy S6. The video is surprisingly well-done and drops several hints about the phone. The video includes several phrases such as "Tomorrow, metals will flow. Beauty will be powerful. Borders will disappear. Reflections will be free. Colors will leap. The future will be the present."

Reading into those a bit, as well as attaching them to what we could piece together from the video, the Galaxy S6 will feature a metal design, powerful processor, curved (or bezel-free, but curved is more likely) display and likely a stunning new AMOLED screen that will have vivid color saturation. In short, the video really confirms some of the rumors about the phone. It's worth a watch, as it's quite a good teaser video. Take a look down below.

Sprint announces new $90 Family Share Plan with 10 GB of data

Posted: 20 Feb 2015 06:34 PM PST

sprint_logo

Sprint announced today that it is making available a new Family Share Plan that it thinks places it at the forefront in terms of providing value for customers. The new plan provides 12 GB of high-speed data along with unlimited talk and text for up to 10 lines for only $90 per month. This bests T-Mobile slightly, which has a plan offering 10 GB of data for $100 per month if four lines are on the plan, as the carriers appear to be focusing more on scooping up entire families as customers. In order to achieve this feat Sprint is waiving the normal line access fee for new lines on the plan until March 31, 2016 after which the plan may no longer represent such a value.

To try to sweeten the deal some, Sprint is also reducing the line access charge for handsets from $25 per month to $15 per month. If customers opt for a 12 GB per month or larger plan and port over their number, Sprint will waive line access fees for one year if the device is purchased through Sprint Easy Pay, Sprint Lease or the Sprint iPhone for Life Plan.

Finally, Sprint will help customers porting numbers over to 12 GB or larger plans by providing an American Express Reward Card valued at $350 per line to help buy out contracts.

If you are interested in switching, you have until March 12, 2015 to take advantage of the offer. Sprint customers can take advantage of these deals through Sprint stores, online or through telesales. Hit the source link for more details.

Motorola is sharing plans to make an "exciting announcement" next week on February 25th. No details have been provided, although Motorola has indicated that they will be shipping out some boxes that will include everything recipients will need related to the announcement. Of course, they do not indicate what size the box will be, so there is no telling what could be inside.

Anyone want to take a guess as to what Motorola may be announcing?

T-Mobile Product Manager sheds some light on Nexus 6’s WiFi Calling and VoLTE update, could arrive in Android 5.1

Posted: 20 Feb 2015 04:03 PM PST

nexus 6 lollipop

Back when Google first unveiled the Nexus 6, T-Mobile was quick to publicly state that — like the iPhone 6 — the phone would officially support WiFi Calling on their network thanks to new APIs in Lollipop. Although an exact date wasn't given, they did mention an "early 2015″ time frame.

A few Lollipop updates later and with Android 5.1 now looming on the horizon, you may be wondering to yourself if this might finally be the update that brings WiFi Calling to the Nexus 6 (and possibly other devices as well).

Shedding a little bit of light on the subject is T-Mobile's Senior Product Manager Desmond Smith. In response to customers on Twitter, Des revealed that, although it'll be close, T-Mobile's promised WiFi Calling update is still undergoing testing, but on track for a Q1 release. He went on to explain that VoLTE for the Nexus was coming along nicely (he's actually running test build of Android with VoLTE enabled) and that because this effectively gives way to WiFi Calling, it's a little higher up on the priority list at the moment.

Recently HTC's Product Manager Mo Versi revealed that Google's next "major release" — Android 5.1 — was expected to begin rolling out in March. Given that T-Mobile's deadline (Q1) officially ends Tuesday, March 31st, it's entirely possible Android 5.1 could bring WiFi Calling on T-Mobile. We'll have to wait and see.

Judge dismisses antitrust case against Google over bundled apps and services

Posted: 20 Feb 2015 03:37 PM PST

An antitrust case against Google over bundling its own apps and services into Android phones has been dismissed by a federal judge today. The suit in question claimed that Google's contracts with smartphone makers that required its own apps and services to come bundled on their devices put rival apps at a disadvantage and lead to higher prices.
