Google has been testing YouTube Gaming for the last few months after announcing it in June. It promised a summer 2015 release for its Twitch competitor, and it's living up to it. The big day for YouTube Gaming is tomorrow, and it'll be accessible in all regions with access to YouTube.

The service (which we've gone hands-on with) is the first major competitor to Amazon-owned game streaming powerhouse Twitch. Google attempted to buy Twitch last year, but the deal fell through and Amazon scooped it up.

Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch shown off in final form

Posted: 25 Aug 2015 02:25 PM PDT

The Samsung Gear S2 has been in the news quite a bit, with Samsung doing quite a bit of teasing. It's definitely going to be an interesting device, with a rotating bezel to perform some actions and what is most likely Tizen OS running the show. Yes, it isn't Android Wear, but it's very interesting nonetheless.

Dennis Miloseski has posted a photo of the watch he's testing on Instagram, showing off what's likely the final build of the watch. The hardware definitely looks finished. Miloseski is the vice president head of study at Samsung Design America as well as plenty of other roles that he fills for Samsung, so it's a bit surprising that such an important employee has posted a photo of this product. It could be part of the advertising plan, though.

The watch definitely looks fantastic, and the watch face with the moon phase is pretty awesome as well. What do you think about it so far? Leave a comment!

Sony Releases Smartwatch 3 Watch Face App In The Play Store

Posted: 25 Aug 2015 01:18 PM PDT

sony

As we await the release of new Android Wear watches, we have time to reflect on all those first-gen wrist computers. The Sony Smartwatch 3 was actually a pretty neat device with its full microUSB and transflective LCD. It's getting a little cooler still today with an official companion app that adds three new watch faces.

The app is predictably called Watch Faces for Smartwatch 3, and you can install it on your Smartwatch 3 for free.

TuneIn lets you stream stations from all over the world, regardless of how far outside of their coverage area you may be.

Now the company is rolling out TuneIn Premium for $7.99 a month.

Images of the rumored HTC A9/Aero find their way online

Posted: 25 Aug 2015 09:13 AM PDT

Mr. Blurrycam is at it again. This time around it's the rumored "superphone" from HTC, which the company has hinted at in the past, and is rumored to see the light of day later this year. The phone you see here is supposedly that phone, called the A9 or Aero, depending on who you ask.

The images are pretty low quality, so there aren't a lot of details to really pick apart here. The front of the handset, viewed on the right, seems to show off 2.5D curved glass edges, which is an interesting addition. On the back, we can see how the A9/Aero compares to Apple's iPhone 6, and the similarities are pretty obvious. HTC has decided to apparently move the camera above the antenna band, though, unlike the One M9 where it rests below the line.

The camera housing is also round in this model, rather than square, as it was on the One M9.

As far as specifications go, the rumor mill suggests the A9/Aero will feature a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, with 4GB of RAM and a 10-core MediaTek Xelio X20 processor under the hood. The battery is said to measure in at 3500mAh. Unfortunately, it's unknown just how many of these details are going to be in the final design, or if the final model will ever be released.

What do you think of the A9?

Google Map Maker Now Available In The U.S. And 50 Other Countries

Android System WebView Updated To Improve Performance On The Nexus 9 And Other Tegra Devices

The tool, which makes it easy for apps to display web content without opening a browser, has been updated specifically to support the Nexus 9 (and any other Tegra-based devices with NVIDIA's K1 GPU architecture) with improved performance.

Verizon’s DROID MAXX 2 shows off its curves for some leaked photos

Posted: 25 Aug 2015 07:12 AM PDT

It hasn't been all that long since the first images of what was being called the DROID MAXX 2's backplate began circulating, but now the phone's back, and this time it's showing off a bit more.

In the new images, we get to see the familiar backplate we saw yesterday, with the DROID and Verizon Wireless branding near the bottom edge for the world to see. There are also some Verizon-specific apps, including Verizon Messages and Voicemail, practically sealing the deal that this is indeed a Verizon phone.

According to information gleaned from the CPU-Z app, the DROID MAXX 2 will boast a 5.46-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor under the hood. There's a 21-megapixel camera on the back, with 2GB of RAM inside and a battery measured in at 3630mAh. The model number is listed as XT1565 (lux_verizon).

droidmaxx2leak

Interestingly enough, this model appears to only boast 8GB of storage (with almost 6GB available to the user), while the Moto X Play — which this device is clearly based on — offers two variants, one with 16GB and the other with 32GB of built-in storage. While this leak doesn't seem to confirm whether or not the microSD card slot in the Moto X Play will make the jump over to the DROID MAXX 2, with only 8GB of built-in storage, one would hope it would.

What do you think of the DROID MAXX 2 so far?

A new batch of Android Wear devices is slated to launch at IFA

Posted: 25 Aug 2015 06:43 AM PDT

Android Wear is a great OS for smartwatches, but it's had a struggle getting the right blend of hardware to come alongside it. There's hope that the situation could soon change with a new report from CNET claiming that a new batch of Android Wear devices is set to launch at IFA. Included in the group will be offerings from Motorola, LG, Huawei and ASUS, all of which should come out swinging with their best smartwatches.

The past year's line-up of Android Wear smartwatches has been a bit disappointing. Motorola stood out with the Moto 360, but the device still had its own flaws, which caused it to not soar as high as it should have. Many of the other devices were largely forgettable, contributing to poor sales of Android Wear devices. With this second launch, though, we're hoping to see a stronger, more concerted effort to lift Android Wear off of the ground.

Vysor Is The Newest (Early Beta) Android Project From Koush, Allows You To Control Your Phone From Chrome

An early beta of the app is available in the Chrome web store, and it's already surprisingly solid for something that isn't even done yet.

We were actually aware of Vysor on the down-low before, but were waiting to cover it until it was "done." However, those cantankerous Redditors found the extension URL.

Android Powered Blackberry Passport Stars In Video

Posted: 24 Aug 2015 07:44 PM PDT

It looks like it isn't just new Blackberrys that may be getting a touch of Android, current models may also get a taste of our favourite little green robot.  A video has surfaced showcasing Blackberry's current flagship device, the Passport, running Android 5 Lollipop!

The video was posted by Brazilian YouTuber Dudu Tec Rock and as you can see in the video, he seems to have snagged himself one special Passport.  The video is in Portuguese so I can't say that I understood too much of what he said but there's lots to garner from the video nonetheless.  As previously speculated, Blackberry will likely employ little to no skin atop of Android.  Blackberry apps will be present, as expected, but they're not overbearing by any means.

Still no word on when Blackberry will unleash this new generation of Android powered Blackberrys but given the flood of leaks as of late, you'd have to think change is coming soon.
