Popular Photo Gallery App QuickPic Has Been Bought By Cheetah Mobile, And Users Are Pissed

Posted: 29 Aug 2015 02:25 PM PDT

reviewsQuickPic is a nice little Android photo gallery-slash-viewer. Over several years it has gained a comfortable userbase thanks to steady updates, excellent communication with users, plenty of extra features, and an impressive adherence to Android design standards. So when QuickPic fans discovered that the app had been sold and re-published by Cheetah Mobile, they were, to put it mildly, pissed. They began flooding the app's Play Store page under the new developer "Cheetah Mobile Cloud (NYSE:CMCM)" with disparaging reviews almost immediately.

Blackberry Venice shows up again in new pictures

Posted: 29 Aug 2015 08:17 AM PDT

Blackberry's upcoming Android slider, the Blackberry Venice, has popped up once again in a new set of images from a couple of different sources. At this point, it's all but officially confirmed that the Venice will be Blackberry's entry into the Android world. It features a large display and Android Lollipop in addition to its distinctive feature, which is a full QWERTY keyboard that can be accessed by sliding the display up.

From the leaks, we can also see SIM and microSD ports residing on the top of the device, with a volume rocker and power button sitting on the right side of the device. The back of the device holds what looks to be an 18-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization and a dual LED flash, though we'll have to wait and see how it performs in the real world. The Venice is running Android Lollipop, though plenty of rumors have pegged it as having some customizations, one of which is a tweaked app switcher screen that we can see in one of the leaked images.

We'll keep you posted on any more leaks concerning the Blackberry Venice.

slickdeals

Those who are always on the lookout for a good buy probably have some experience with Slickdeals. The web's most popular location for bargain hunting isn't new to Android, but the experience on mobile has always been a little bit lacking. As Slickdeal's current app has gotten fairly stale, they have not been sitting on their hands. Now in beta, an update to v3.0 features a completely revamped look with better spacing, tabs instead of a hamburger menu, and a smoother overall experience.

Nexus 5 (2015) Releasing On September 29th?

Posted: 28 Aug 2015 11:26 PM PDT

Nexus-5-2015-concept

We are now officially in Nexus season as leaks for both the LG and Huawei Nexus phones have been getting better and better.

According to a Korean news outlet MK Post, LG and Google are expected to announce the true spiritual successor to the Nexus 5, commonly known as the Nexus 5 (2015), on September 29th. It's an odd specific date but it does make sense as Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to be officially released next month as well. If it does get announced, it'll most likely be up on the Google Store (previously known as the Play Store) on the same day.

Specs for the phone are still not as detailed as one would like, but it will at least sport a 5.2-inch 1080p/1440p QHD display,Snapdragon 808 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and laser autofocus, fingerprint sensor and a USB Type C connector.

Alleged Nexus 5 LCD Panel Surfaces

Posted: 28 Aug 2015 05:14 PM PDT

Nexus 5 Panel

We've gotten a good number of looks at the upcoming Nexus 5 (2015) and today we have a picture of one of the devices components.  A photo that allegedly showcases the Nexus 5's LCD panel has surfaced today thanks to @manu09090.

@Onleaks has compared the latest leak to his own and it seems that everything lines up with what we've seen thus far.  While there's still a slight possibility that all these leaksters are off base, there is an increasing amount of evidence indicating that the leaksters are on track and that we shouldn't be too surprised by anything when the phone debuts.

Is Your S-Pen Stuck On Your Note 5? Here’s A Easy Fix!

Posted: 28 Aug 2015 05:14 PM PDT

As you've all probably heard by now, there is a little problem with Samsung's new phablet, the Galaxy Note 5.  If, for some reason, you happened to insert your S-Pen backwards it may have gotten stuck.  While it's possible to yank on it to free the pen, this brute force method breaks a mechanism inside the phone that detects when the pen is attached / detached.  So what do you do?  Well one ingenious YouTuber has a solution.

How2Tech has come up with a nifty little solution that is cheap and relatively simple.  As you can see in the video above, all you need to free your pen is a small strip of paper.  By inserting the paper into the S-Pen hole you essentially block the mechanism from catching on the pen, thus you can free your pen without breaking anything.

Hopefully none of you have to use this method but if you do get your S-Pen stuck be sure to give this a try!
