Tip: Long-Press The App Drawer In Google Now Launcher To Immediately Search Installed Apps

iconOne of our readers spotted this neat trick in the latest update to the Google Now Launcher (which is part of the primary Google app). A single tap on the app drawer icon will open the app drawer as usual, but a long-press will open it and immediately highlight the app search field. It will also automatically open your default virtual keyboard, quickly and easily allowing you to type and search for apps.

After the launch of YouTube Gaming at the end of August, we posted a teardown of the new app that revealed plans to officially support screen recording and live streaming in the future. A recent announcement at the 2015 Tokyo Game Show Keynote (embedded below) confirmed Google's plans to enable Android devices to stream gaming footage to YouTube without the use of any additional software. The latest update to Play Games contains the evidence that Google is moving forward with this, and probably pretty soon.

Remember when that Korean source indicated that Google would launch the next Nexus phones on September 29th?

Well it turns out they were dead on as Google has let pretty much every major tech site know they're hosting an event on September 29th in San Francisco. Everyone and their mother knows that this is the day when LG's Nexus 5X and Huawe's Nexus 6P will be announced alongside the official release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and maybe even a new Chromecast with 5 GHz WiFi support.

Hopefully this year Google has enough stock to meet the demand for Nexus fans as the Nexus 4, 5 and 6 launches were quite hectic.

Google sending invites for September 29 event, new Nexus phones incoming

After months of rumors and speculation, we finally know the date on which we'll get to see Google's new Nexus smartphones.

Google is sending invitations for an event that's taking place at 9:00 am PT on September 29. Google says that it'll show "some new treats" at the event and then let attendees spend some hands-on time with 'em after the presentation.

It's widely expected that Google will shown the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P at this event. Exactly when the new phones will launch is still unknown, but in recent years, Google has began selling its new Nexus products shortly after their unveiled.

In addition to these new Nexus phones, it's rumored that Google will show a new Chromecast at its September 29 event. The streaming dongle will reportedly have a new look and offer faster Wi-Fi, among other tweaks.
