FIFA 16 Ultimate Team Is Now Available On Android, But Device Compatibility Is Strange

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 03:18 PM PDT

We don't see too much enthusiasm for soccer in the US. In fact, we call it soccer instead of football just to show how much we don't care what the rest of the world thinks. Classic America, right? At any rate, FIFA 16 Ultimate Team is out on Android, and I'm going to do my best to explain what it's all about.

FIFA 16 Ultimate Team is a mix of good old-fashioned soccer simulator gameplay and a collectible card game.

Google Clock gets new features, Android Wear improvements

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 02:48 PM PDT

If you're a fan of stock Android but are stuck with a skin, Google's stock replacement apps on the Play Store are a great option. The latest to be updated is the Clock app, which is quite pretty and quick.

This update adds some new features like gradually increasing volume for alarms and timers, timer ringtones, and more control over alarms and timers before they go off. On top of that, alarm notifications on Android Wear will be interactive, and management of alarms is easier on your watch.

Hit the source link to check the app out, and open your Play Store app to update it!

Image of LG device with ticker display leaked

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 02:43 PM PDT

Secondary ticker displays aren't exactly new. Samsung gave it a shot with the Continuum, a Verizon Galaxy S variant with a second display at the bottom that showed extra information. It didn't work out too well due to lack of support and functionality, but it looks like LG is willing to give it a shot.

This leaked image is of the LG V10. You can see the secondary ticker display at the top displaying icons, likely quick shortcuts to some of your favorite apps. Hopefully it has a lot more functionality, instead of being a useless shortcut bar. Being at the top of the screen doesn't really help, unless it shows important information.

There are also two cameras from the looks of it, as the sensors are by the earpiece. We'll have to wait for more info, but it's an intriguing device so far. Do you think a ticker display could be useful in any way?

Action Launcher 3 update introduces Quickfind

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 02:20 PM PDT

Action Launcher 3 is a constantly evolving and very unique launcher made by Chris Lacy. The latest update for September 2015 introduces quite a few changes, but the main addition is Quickfind. It's a similar feature to Google Now Launcher's implementation, but done better and faster.

Swiping from the app drawer button opens the drawer and automatically opens your keyboard, allowing you to quickly search for an app using the first few letters. Hitting the Go button on the keyboard immediately opens the app, making this implementation super fast. It also works with widgets and T9 keyboards.

Other new features include the new Google logo (both monochrome and rainbow), transition animations for the home screen, support for dynamic icons (such as a changing calendar icon), and more. Hit the source link to check it out!

Google adding unsubscribe and block features to Gmail app for Android

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 10:57 AM PDT

Email is still one of the most popular ways of correspondence, but sometimes an email arrives that you just don't want to see, specifically when it comes from the same address over and over again. Luckily for Gmail users, a big change is coming to help with that.

Google has announced that Gmail for Android is picking up a pair of new features in the next week (it's already available on the web). The first of which is "block," which, as the name implies, will let users block a sender so that any future emails that they receive will immediately go into the Spam folder. This is certainly a welcomed addition, and for anyone that wants to unblock someone, that can be handled from the Settings option in the app.

And, if that wasn't enough, Gmail is also picking up the unsubscribe feature in the app, which means that users can delist themselves from eligible mailing lists right from the app. Ditching a newsletter will hopefully be much easier than ever before on a mobile device.

Gmail's update should be rolling out over the next week, so keep an eye out for those new features.

Google Introduces Block And Unsubscribe Options For The Gmail Android App

Just like with paper mail, some senders can't help but screw with a good thing. Alongside letters from sweethearts and loved ones, you have unsolicited offers from who knows what. And you seemingly run the risk of getting added to a mailing list every time you sign up for a new site.

To keep users from giving up and walking away from their webmail for good, Gmail has made a strong effort to filter out spam and help users keep only the mail they want to see in their inbox.

Xiaomi Mi 4c offers solid specs and clean design for $204

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 09:52 AM PDT

Xiaomi today continued its tradition of launching well-specced Android phones at affordable prices with the debut of the Mi 4c. The Xiaomi Mi 4c boasts a 5-inch 1920×1080 display with Sunlight Display and Night Reading Mode, the former of which will pump up the screen brightness so that you can see the display outdoors, and the latter of which will dim the screen so you can use it at night without being blinded.

Xiaomi has also included a couple of tricks with the Mi 4c. First up is Edge Tap, which will let you tap the edge of the unit once to take a selfie or twice to go back. You can check out a video of Edge Tap below. Also included is Double Tap to Wake, which will wake the Mi 4c's display when you tap it twice.

The back of the Mi 4c's got a 13-megapixel camera with Sony IMX258/Samsung S5K3M2 ISOCELL sensor, Phase Detection Autofocus, and two-tone flash. If you ever decide to take a selfie with the Mi 4c, you'll do so with a 5-megapixel shooter with a wide-angle lens and Beautify mode.

Powering Xiaomi's newest phone is a 1.8GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 808, which also brings Quick Charge 2.0 for the Mi 4c's 3080mAh battery. Also included is 2/3GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, dual SIM slots, and a USB Type-C connector. Xiaomi has also thrown an infrared remote control into the Mi 4c that'll let you control your TV with your phone.

The Xiaomi Mi 4c will be available in China starting September 23 at a price of ¥1,299 ($204 USD) for the 2GB/16GB model and ¥1,499 ($235 USD) for the 3GB/32GB version. While the Mi 4c may not he the most high-end Android phone around, it's got a perfectly respectable feature set, and it's an awesome value for $204. The bad news is that we don't know when or if we'll ever see the Mi 4c outside of China, so most of us probably won't ever have the opportunity to buy one.
