Amazon Music App Adds Android Auto Support In Version 4.5

Posted: 04 Sep 2015 02:47 PM PDT

imageAt this point my choice of music service boils down to which one will let me store all my music in the cloud for the least amount of money... and actually work long enough to play it (lookin' at you, Google Play Music). So, Amazon Music and the Prime service it's associated with are looking more attractive these days. If you're one of the very few early adopters of Android Auto, you can now use the app with Google's vehicular electronics system.

Leaks show off new Moto X Force in multiple colors

Posted: 04 Sep 2015 01:57 PM PDT

The new Moto X Pure Edition has just gone up for pre-order, and already we have a leak for a new Motorola device. This is the Moto X Force, and not much is known about it, but it looks like every other recent Motorola device.

Moto X Force colors

It's likely going to come to Moto Maker, considering how many colors and accents are being shown off. The bottom of the front of the device has a strange setup where it looks like there are two speaker grills, though that could be something else entirely. We'll have to wait to find out more about that.

With the Moto X Pure Edition launching, do you think it's worth waiting to hear more about the Moto X Force? Could it be higher end, or will it fall in the mid-range for the US? Leave a comment with your thoughts!

Google Street View becomes standalone app, aimed at exploration

Posted: 04 Sep 2015 01:27 PM PDT

Google Street View has long been a staple of Google Maps, allowing you to explore an area as if you were there. It's incredibly useful for looking for business, orienting yourself, getting a sense of parking in an area, or even just looking around for the heck of it. And now, Street View gets its own app for both Android and iOS.

This new app is aimed to help people explore and share their surroundings. There's a gallery full of photo spheres that people have contributed, and it allows you to contribute your own. This app replaces the Photo Sphere app on iOS, and comes built in with the photo sphere camera on both platforms. You can take beautiful 360 degree photos and share them for all to see.

Not only can you use your own camera, but the app has support for 360 degree cameras like the Ricoh Theta S and the NCTech iris360. All photo spheres taken will also appear on Google Maps for regular folks to see. If you want to download the app to your Android device, head over here to the Play Store!

Moto X Force (aka Bounce) Surfaces Again

Posted: 04 Sep 2015 11:27 AM PDT

Moto X Force

Earlier this week a picture surfaced of a device called the Motorola Bounce, a device that allegedly features a shatter-proof display.  Well @upleaks (the original leakster) has yet another device of the Bounce to pass our way but as you can see, the name has been changed.

According to this latest press render, the Bounce will actually be called the Moto X Force.  In a way, it makes sense as Motorola has been expanding its Moto X line up this year with devices like the Moto X Play and Moto X Style/Pure.

Still no word on when this device is set to launch or which countries will get the nice durable device but we'll keep you in the loop as we hear more.

There's good news in store for future Android-running BlackBerry users. The smartphone maker that now figures maybe it likes the taste of Lollipops and Marshmallows after all has announced its acquisition of Good. Good.

Good develops a sweet of decidedly un-fun Android apps intended for enterprise users. There's a pretty good number of them out there too. The Play Store has apps for accessing intranet, managing contacts, and handling email.

WhatsApp has come a long way since its origins as an instant messaging client in 2009. By this time 2013, over 300 million people were running the app, and that was before Facebook decided to pay $19 billion for the service. By the beginning of this year, it had reached 700 million.

And keep in mind—these are monthly active users, not device installs, a less important number that is significantly higher.

[APK Download] Chrome Beta 46 Now Available In Google Play, Brings Several Developer-ey Tweaks

Chrome Beta seems to be that sweet spot between reliability and new features - not quite as bleeding edge as the Dev build, but still packed with new stuff earlier than the Stable build. It's generally my personal favorite browser to use as primary, because checking out the new stuff once it's basically no longer buggy is always fun.

Beta 46 was announced for Android yesterday, and it brings a slew of under-the-hood improvements.

Nexus 6 now $300 off on Amazon, starts at $349

Posted: 04 Sep 2015 07:25 AM PDT

While the overall size of the device was an issue for some, the biggest knock against the Nexus 6 has always its the price. And though we are expecting new Nexii announced by the end of the month, for those looking to get in on Project Fi or the Nexus experience, the $300 discount on all Nexus 6 variants on Amazon is going to be tough to beat.

You can pick up the 32GB Nexus 6 in midnight blue or cloud white for $349 or, if you need a little more space, the 64GB Nexus 6 in midnight blue or cloud white is similarly discounted to $399.

Again, there is unquestionably new Nexus hardware coming in the next couple months. All signs point to two devices from LG and Huawei at different sizes, and perhaps we'll see a return of lower-priced Nexus hardware as opposed to the premium that the Nexus 6 originally commanded. With that said, if you need a new phone now or just have liked the look of the Nexus 6 but balked at the price, then this is likely the best deal you'll see on the hardware for some time.
