AT&T hosting buy one get one free sale for select devices

Posted: 11 Dec 2015 03:10 PM PST

AT&T is having a sale, and it's a significant one. When buying a select smartphone, you'll be able to get $650 in bill credits for another device, making it free if it's under $650. The Samsung Galaxy S6 32GB would end up being free, though the deal can be used for $650 towards other devices like the Galaxy Note 5, S6 edge, S6 edge+, S6 active, and even the iPhone 6s Plus.

The device won't be entirely free, as you'll have to pay tax on it, but the monthly charges on your AT&T Next plan will be covered. Getting a more expensive device or a higher storage level means you'll only have to pay the difference in monthly cost.

You'll also need to be using a qualifying service of at least $70 per month, and you'll have to start another line. In the end, while it's a good deal, it'll still cost you more. But hey, if you needed another line anyway, this is perfect.

An update has begun to roll out to the Google App that adds a share button to Google Now on tap, which takes a screenshot and allows you to immediately share it. This is great news for some who have been having issues taking screenshots on their 6P while using certain cases, and for those who have trouble pressing multiple buttons at once.

Galaxy S7 Chassis Leaks. Confirms Similar Design

Posted: 11 Dec 2015 10:07 AM PST

Galaxy S7 Chassis - 1

I've got some more Galaxy S7 rumours and leaks for ya on this lovely Friday afternoon.  Some more alleged photos of the S7 have surfaced but this time they're not renders, they're actual shots of the chassis!

If these photos are indeed legitimate, they once again confirm that the Galaxy S7 is going to look a lot like the Galaxy S6 with is metal frame sandwiched between two pieces of glass.  I'm assuming that this frame is for the plain Jane S7 because it doesn't look like the frame tapers in on the sides like on the Edge which means that one minor change is that the SIM tray has been move to the top of the device as opposed to being on the side.  I also don't see any cut outs for buttons along the sides which is very odd so this may not be a final product.

What do you guys think?  Is this chassis for the S7?  If so, are you  glad they're keeping things pretty similar to the S6?

Four Different Galaxy S7s In The Work According To @evleaks

Posted: 11 Dec 2015 09:22 AM PST

The Galaxy S7 rumours are coming pretty fast and furious as of late and we've got another one to throw your way.  Everyone's favourite not so retired leakster, Evan Blass,  posted a Tweet earlier today suggesting that we will have not one, not two, not there, but four new Galaxy S7's models!  The models include the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7 Plus, and Galaxy S7 Edge Plus.

Based on previous rumours, the smaller S7 and S7 Edge will sport a screen size similar to the S6 (probably around 5.1″-5.2″) while the Plus devices will sport a massive 6″ display as to not eat into the Galaxy Note market too much.  Other early rumours had suggested that Samsung would be ditching the non Edge devices altogether but it makes sense for them to keep both models around, at least for the time being.  Curved screens are seen as more of a novelty than a necessity so Samsung could potentially capture more consumers by keeping the "traditional" screen in play at a lower price point.

Again, all this is rumour but @evleaks has a pretty solid track record so this definitely deserves some weight.

The New Samsung Gear VR Is Now Available In Canada

Samsung Gear VR

Looking for a sweet present for that techie person on your list?  Well if that person happens to have one of the new Samsung devices, then maybe you want to grab them the new Samsung Gear VR!  The virtual reality headset has been available for pre-order for a couple of weeks here but it is now available for purchase at both BestBuy and the Source.

Compatible devices include the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5.  It's kind of sad that the Note 4 isn't supported given that that was the first device to get a Gear VR companion but it is what it is.

In terms of pricing, the headset will set you back $139.99 but BestBuy currently has a coupon for 10% off which will basically cover your taxes.  I definitely wouldn't mind finding this under the tree with my name on it…. although I did just switch to a Nexus 6P so I guess it'd be useless to me now…

The joy of landing a big compact snowball smack in the middle of your target! Is there anything better?

LG, ASUS take a few pokes at the hump on the iPhone Smart Battery Case

Posted: 11 Dec 2015 07:36 AM PST

Apple got a lot of attention earlier this week when it released its iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case. The product category isn't new, as Mophie has been pushing battery cases for years, but the case's unique design definitely grabbed more attention that Apple might have hoped for. While Mophie's cases typically increase the thickness of the phone from top to bottom, Apple chose to only increase thickness where needed, creating a hump in the middle where the battery is. Suffice to say, the internet exploded to thousands of different jokes about the iPhone Smart Battery Case's unsightly hump.

LG and ASUS though it would be a good idea to join with a few clever pieces of their own. LG chose to promote the LG V10 with a new promotion image that read "no bumps, just goosebumps," while ASUS took a more civilized approach, pointing out that 5,000mAh battery in ASUS ZenPhone Max delivers 22 hours of video playback – no case required. We do enjoy seeing Android manufacturers have a little fun at Apple's expense, but we're also aware that iPhone battery case will sell better than ASUS ZenPhone Max and LG V10 combined.

You may have noticed that Gmail wasn't present in that list, but that changes today.

Yahoo! is rolling out an update to version 5.1 of Mail that adds Gmail support so you can start checking your Googly inbox from Yahoo's app.

AmpMe is a make-shift surround speaker system on your devices.
