Amazon Underground Expands To Sixteen More Countries, Including Italy And Spain Posted: 03 Dec 2015 02:55 PM PST This may come as a surprise, but some people really hate spending money on apps. They're willing to deal with banner ads, pop-ups, videos, and any number of intrusions before approaching a button in the Play Store with the letters b, u, or y. Amazon figures there's money to be made off these folks, and Amazon Underground is its effort to do so. Now the retailer is expanding the service to Italy, Spain, and fourteen additional countries. Posted: 03 Dec 2015 02:41 PM PST Risk, The Game Of Life, and Scrabble [Blitz 2...] are all classic board game franchises that would really benefit from the Chromecast treatment. And that's exactly what Hasbro's done today, releasing all three games in brand-new Chromecast "big screen" editions for Android. The best part? While they do have in-app purchases, they're the kind that make sense. While you can play all of three games for free up three times a day, one-time unlock IAPs offer players unlimited play (and usually some bonus content) from then on. Chrome 47 Hits The Play Store, Brings Download Snackbar And Other Awaited Features [APK Download] Posted: 03 Dec 2015 02:25 PM PST Chrome 47 is now in the Play Store. This stable build is the end result of all of the development we've watched over the past few months. We detailed changes as they popped up, with one nice feature being the addition of a snackbar that appears at the bottom of the screen when you complete a download (pictured above). HTC Sense 7.0 "G" version explained Posted: 03 Dec 2015 02:13 PM PST Together with the latest and greatest HTC One A9 we saw the HTC Sense 7.0 "G" edition user interface for the first time. What exactly is the "G" version and how it differs from the "regular" version? Probably the "G" comes from a "Google", because HTC wanted it be as close to the stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow UX as possible, allowing for certain carrier requirements and feature necessities. So, for example, in the "G" edition we have the stock notification window and Quick Settings, while the full Settings menu is HTC's Sense version due to carrier customization requirements.
HTC also worked to reduce or eliminate duplicative apps in every case possible. So, for example, the HTC Music player is gone in favour of Google Music. In a couple cases HTC needed to pre-load HTC's apps to support certain features, such as HTC Gallery to support RAW images, in addition to Google Photos. So what's gone for sure? - HTC Backup - HTC Music - Print Studio - One Gallery - Peel Smart Remote - Polaris Office - Scribble All the rest seems to be still there. And it doesn't look much different to the Sense 7.0 "regular" version because a lot of components (such as Calendar, Mail, Clock, Camera, Sense Home, Weather etc.) are accessible via Google Play store. What's also different is the HTC default accent colours, the "G" edition is a bit less colourful.
HTC's plan when M8 and M9 begin rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow is to maintain UX consistency with Sense 7. The main screen looks exactly the same, as well as most parts of the UI (except the colours scheme).

Play Store Has Started Allowing Split Payments Between Google Play Credit And Another Payment Method Posted: 03 Dec 2015 01:25 PM PST It really stinks when you've been saving up your Google Opinion Rewards money, but you're just a few cents short of buying something. Google has not thus far allowed you to apply that credit and pay the difference, but it looks like that's changing. We've gotten multiple tips from readers who have been offered just that option in the Play Store. The current official behavior when you don't have enough in Google Play balance to cover a purchase is to force you to use a card, PayPal, or carrier billing. Google introduces Trial Run Ads and Interactive Interstitials Posted: 03 Dec 2015 11:08 AM PST Google is introducing two new forms of interactive mobile advertisements through AdWords today that will allow developers to provide users with a small taste of their apps before committing to a download. Trial Run Ads are 60 second game trials that work via streaming, while Interactive Interstitials are small HTML5 ads that can be used however a developer sees fit. Google is promoting both kinds of new, interactive ads as a way to drive more downloads and keep users that install apps, as those that do install will know what to expect and aren't downloading just to find out. According to Google, select partners have access to the Trial Run Ads and Interactive Interstitials beta today. If you're a developer, make sure to check with your account manager to see if you have access now. Android Match | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

OnePlus 2 going invite-free forever on December 5, other deals in tow Posted: 03 Dec 2015 09:07 AM PST For anyone that has been eyeing a potential purchase of a OnePlus 2 but hasn't wanted to navigate the invite system, the manufacturer's latest announcement should be a welcomed one. On December 3, OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will be going invite-free forever beginning at midnight on December 5. That means that anyone that wants to buy the OnePlus 2 can do so without using the invite system, hopefully making the purchase process much easier and faster. With this move, OnePlus is making the OnePlus 2 invite-free just four months after the device's launch, which is a markedly improved strategy compared to the OnePlus One going invite-free almost a year after it launched. The OnePlus X is also going invite-free, but only for a limited time. For a potential customer to get that particular handset without an invite, you'll need to purchase it between December 5 and December 7. OnePlus also states that if you want either one of the handsets by the end of the month, in time for the holiday festivities, orders need to be placed by December 7. There are a few other noteworthy deals being launched by OnePlus, too:
