The Pokemon Trading Card Game Online Has A New Beta Version For Android Tablets, And Everyone's Invited

Posted: 09 Apr 2016 03:01 PM PDT

image (1)If you're around the same age as me, you fondly remember playing the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG for short) for hours in middle school. Or more accurately, you remember watching all the other kids play it becuase your parents couldn't afford to buy 10,000 licensed pieces of cardboard just so you could get a shiny Blastoise. (It's OK, I played the Game Boy Color version for vicarious thrills.) As it turns out, the Pokemon card game is still rolling along with a huge following, and now there's even an online digital version.

gReader RSS Reader Gets Its First Update In Eight Months, With Chrome Custom Tabs, UI Improvements, LG Multi-Window Support, And More

Posted: 09 Apr 2016 01:59 PM PDT

greaderSince the fall of Google Reader and the rise of Feedly as its de facto replacement, gReader has risen to become one of the best options for RSS reading on the Play Store. That said, it's been quite a while since the app was significantly updated, or updated at all: before today, the last time the app was touched was back in August of last year. But today's update bumps it up to version 4.3.0 and adds quite a bit of new content, notably tweaks to the user interface, settings menu, and a host of bug fixes.

Sprint rolling Marshmallow out to Samsung Galaxy S5 users

Posted: 08 Apr 2016 06:38 PM PDT

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is two years old now, but Samsung is still supporting the device. The Sprint version of the S5 is now getting its update to the latest version of Android along with a host of important security updates.

The Marshmallow update includes Google Now on Tap, Doze mode, improved audio control, customizable permissions, and a host of improvements that should make the device smoother and faster. You'll also get an updated version of TouchWiz from Samsung.

If you own a Galaxy S5 on Sprint, check for updates in Settings > About phone. The rollout will be staged, so you may get it as late as mid-May, so don't worry if it's not available now. Let us know when you get it!

Verizon delaying free Gear S2 that was offered with Samsung Galaxy S7

Posted: 08 Apr 2016 05:03 PM PDT

Verizon recently had a promotion where it offered customers a free Samsung Gear S2 with the purchase of the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge. Unfortunately, it seems that demand was higher than expected, as the carrier has delayed shipments of the smartwatch until May.

With the Galaxy S7 selling 30% more units than the Galaxy S6 during its launch, it makes sense that demand is higher than expected. Either Verizon or Samsung is having issue with stock, so people will be receiving the watches in May, or possibly even later in the summer. Hopefully it won't take too long.

The LG G5 Has Landed

Posted: 08 Apr 2016 03:43 PM PDT

LG's latest flagship device is officially available in Canada today.  All three major carriers, Rogers, Bell and Telus, have it in their line up as do several smaller carriers including Fido, MTS, SaskTel, Videtron Eastlink and WIND Mobile.  On the big three, the G5 goes for $300 on contract while other carriers have their own pricing.  Just in case you need a refresher, here are the specs:

  • 5.3″ QHD IPS Display
  • Snapdragon 820
  • 4GB RAM
  • 32GB Storage
  • microSD Card Slot
  • 16MP Camera + 8MP Secondary Camera
  • 8MP Front Facing Camera
  • 2800 mAh Removable Battery
  • USB Type-C

Of course, the big differentiating feature on the G5 is the removable battery.  Despite sporting a "premium" design like the competition, LG has made the battery user-removable which is a big plus in many people's books.  The G5 is also the first modular phone to hit the market and while the add ons are pretty limited right now, it's still a unique idea.  Hopefully they add some more Friends down the line.

So how many of you guys picked up a G5 today?
