The Galaxy Note 5 Is Now Getting A Galaxy Note7 Specific Feature

Bummed out that the Galaxy Note7 is no longer among the living? Don't be, if you have an older Galaxy Note 5 laying around the house, it's time you get it out.

Samsung is currently rolling out an updated for the year old phablet which will bring the defunct phone's Grace UX onboard. The company's current premium devices, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge aren't yet taking advantage of the new feature, but they will probably be added with the Android 7.0 Nougat update

Anyway, the update is currently hitting Korea Telecom-bound Galaxy Note 5 units in South Korea, but will soon spread out to the rest of the world. If you are in Canada and can't see the update, don't fret, it might take a few weeks before the new build makes it out to the rest of the world.

The new build comes as firmware version KKU2CPl1 and is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. No word of when Android 7.0 Nougat will arrive on the older device.

So if you're feeling nostalgic about the Galaxy Note7 and want something to remind you of it, take out your older Galaxy Note 5 and wait for the update.

Did You Know Xiaomi Will Start Making its Own Processors?

Posted: 26 Nov 2016 01:50 PM PST

Xiaomi, the company that gained the nickname Apple's China has flooded the market with a lot of products over the years. The device maker is best known for its phones and tablets, but Xiaomi also sells wearables, earbuds and headphones and action cameras – to name a few.

But did you know that Xiaomi will soon unveil a phone that takes advantage of its first home grown processor?

Before you start jumping for joy, we'll have to tell you the device in question will be a low-range affair. It's called the Xiaomi Mi5c (naming reminiscent of iPhone 5c) and if we're to believe the rumors we might see the device arrive on the market as soon as December.

It's interesting that Xiaomi is going into processor making, but certainly not unheard of. After all Samsung has its Exynos chips and Huawei its Kirin lineup. Anyway, the first Xiaomi chipset will reportedly be called Pinecone and will take advantage of an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz.

As for the rest of the specs, the Mi5c should make it out with a 5.5-inch display (with 2.5D glass, unspecified resolution, but possibly 1080p), 3GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, 12MP/8MP camera combo plus NFC.

The phone is said to make a debut with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Xiaomi's own MIUI 8 on to and a fingerprint sensor embedded in the display.

According to word on the street the phone should cost around $196 CAD

Posted: 26 Nov 2016 09:07 AM PST

image (6)There are a lot of point-and-click adventure games on the Play Store, some of them ports of classics from decades ago, some of them original games spurred on by the genre's mobile renaissance. But none seem so downright dedicated to the classic format as Kathy Rain, the rookie effort from independent developer Clifftop Games. Equal parts Agatha Christie and Broken Sword, the game's graphics, setting, and sound design are all crafted to call back to the golden age of 90s adventures with an original story.
