Super Mario Run Lands in Google Play Store, Pre-Registrations Available

Posted: 29 Dec 2016 12:29 PM PST

mario-and-princess-peach

So far Super Mario Run was available only for iOS users, but luckily the application will soon make its way to Android.

The game marks the first Nintendo game that was truly optimized for mobile. However, reviews describe Super Mobile Run as a total fiasco. iPhone or iPad users are required to pay $10 to download the (complete) app, which only features 3 playable levels.

Sadly, we anticipate the Android app will be identical to the iOS one and will most likely feature the same pricing scheme. So prepare to pay up if you want to give Super Mario Run a go. Unless you are satisfied with the free version which offers next to nothing.

You still have some time to decide whether you want to spend your cash on the game. Even if Super Mario Run has landed in the Play Store it is only available for pre-registration. Basically you will receive an alert when the game finally becomes available for purchase.

In the meanwhile, you can take a look at the trail and prepare yourself for the Mario experience on mobile.

For those who don't know, Super Mario Run has users controlling a little, running man as he explores the world and tries to rescue Princess Peach.

Duolingo Clubs adds new social elements to language learning

Posted: 29 Dec 2016 11:34 AM PST

clubsDuolingo is one of the most popular apps on the Play Store, but oddly, its social features have been a bit on the light side up to now. The latest update to the language learning service aims to alleviate that with Duolingo Clubs. The feature is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: users (or "players" as Duolingo likes to call them) can congregate into social clubs to keep track of each other's use of the app and progress though the guided, game-style courses.

You can pre-register for Super Mario Run for Android

Posted: 29 Dec 2016 09:21 AM PST

Earlier this month, Nintendo launched Super Mario Run exclusively for iOS devices, with no word as to when the popular title would find its way to Android.

While we still don't have a launch date just yet, we're at least one step closer to getting the game on our Android devices. Nintendo has launched the landing page for Super Mario Run in the Google Play Store, allowing Android users to pre-register for the title and get notified when it becomes available.

Unfortunately, the release date for the title is still only "coming soon."

Super Mario Run is an endless runner title, with six different worlds and four levels in each world. There is also a Toad Rally asynchronous multiplayer mode where players race against ghosts of other players and try to collect the most coins in any particular level.

Super Mario Run will be free to download initially, unlocking the full game will cost players $9.99. It requires an internet connection to play, as well.

Do you plan on picking up the game when it becomes available?

Super Mario Run is up for pre-registration on the Play Store

Posted: 29 Dec 2016 02:17 AM PST

One of the most anticipated games of the last quarter of 2016 is Super Mario Run. The game was announced by Nintendo at Apple's event in September as an iOS-first release and was made available a couple of weeks ago to rather disappointed reviews that plunged the company's stock value. An Android release was always in the cards, but we never got a specific date to go with it.

Now we have the first glimpse of Super Mario Run on Android.

Twitter announces Live 360 Video, powered by Periscope

Posted: 28 Dec 2016 10:17 PM PST

Earlier this month, the official Twitter mobile apps were updated to support livestreaming without having the separate Periscope app installed. Now the company has added support for 360-degree streams to both the Twitter and Periscope apps.

If you've ever watched a 360-degree YouTube video, you should be familiar with how this works. Desktop users can pan around the player with the mouse, and mobile users can tilt their phone to change the video angle.

Folks will be able to hop into a live video and check out the 360-degree content as the stream rolls on. The special videos will be available in Periscope as well as Twitter directly, and viewers will see a specific "LIVE 360″ badge when they're live.
